the archives/update the forum

I'm just catching up on the "old" (2 days) topics since I was one of those yahooers who got dropped. Didn't know what happened but checked my email box and found out I was mysteriously restored and had 200+ emails to look through.

I found the forum update topic (once again) interesting as I am a noob and a lurker unless I have a burning question. My burning questions are what brings me here. In answers I have often been referred to the archives for more information. Am I the only one who finds the archives difficult (at best) to find truly relevant info on my need? With the hundreds, yea, thousands, of emails on each topic (Kilns: construction: 989 responses) I liken it to looking for a sponge in a 50 gallon tub of wet scrap clay. I know that what I'm looking for is there somewhere but I spend alot of precious time slogging through the gloop. (No offense). I find it much more effective to simply post my question anew and to weather the collective sigh of "THAT question again..."

Maybe since I am so green I just need more instruction on the effective use of the archives... I'm always open to instruction.

I'm trying the digest as suggested.

Pam (who just spent the evening helping my brilliant husband turn my new 3400 lb. kiln about 100degrees into position using only four 6" pipes and a crowbar! Worked like an Egyptian...)

Pam and anyone else who is trying to find things in the archives go to;

http://www.potters.org/categories.htm

everthing from the archives is listed here by subject and much easier to
find what your looking for.

Pinky in MN, went to a craft sale today... most of it had made in china
