about bone ash and calcium chloride; green glazes

Reading Michael Bailey this AM, noted this:

he says NOT to use calcium chloride as suspender
when bone ash in glaze because it will react with the bone
ash making it settle out as a hard layer at bottom of pail.

And,. by the way, Bailey has several very very nice greens
in his book "Glazes Cone 6". A book I think ClayArt
undervalues.

I have the book you are talking about but I haven't tried the recipes
yet. I think it's not undervalued I think it's more Ron and John
promote the book well and participate very regularly in our discussions
so it seems to be the first book recommended. I have 6 or 7 glaze books
including MCG6 and I think they are all equally useful. Now if I can
just find the time to try all those wonderful recipes :)
