Again, a blog.

C/04 textured green glazes, using a synthetic rutile
produced in our region, to produce texture.

Very nice, Edouard!!!

Where does one purchase this synthetic rutile? Does the "mined"
rutile being sold in N. America give the same or similar results?

Many thanks,

Hello Paulette,

QIT sells it by the carload or shipload in large
chunks
to be used by the chemical industry such as the
production of Titanium Dioxide by the "chlorine
process"

They do not produce it "fine grained" nor for
individuals.

The sample I got from an engineer was made up of
120 mesh
dust falling off chemical "reactors", where the
reaction takes
place between a black TiO2 slag called Sorelslag
and
diluted hydrochloric acid.

I use it as a substitute for standard rutile
knowing that
I will get more surface texture according to the
granulometry,
it is different from the stuff you buy from your
raw materials
supplier.

If you want to know more about that company go to
:
http://www.qit.com/eng/index2.html

Actually, I do not work for them...
