canvas in the studio

Let me get this out there right away....I hate canvas in the studio.
No...it should not be on your wedging board...don't care if you do wipe it
down with a wet sponge. Stack and slam on a canvas covered wedging
table...I don't think so. I worked in a studio for a short while that had
canvas covering everything. There was a slab roller in the studio. Person
who was teaching children's classes didn't want to use the slab roller. She
wanted to teach the kids how to make slabs themselves by throwing it down on
the table....covered with canvas. I watched as they had fun throwing those
slabs hard on the table and every time they did it, a little cloud of clay
dust went right up in their faces.
I am getting rid of the canvas used for my slab roller, going to buy slab
mats. Wash clean everytime.
Please...just get rid of the canvas. Unless you are throwing it in the
washing machine everytime you use it, you are deceiving yourself if you
think you can clean it in place.
