Another noob question for anyone familiar with this clay and these commercial glazes.
I started out thinking i was going to fire to cone 10, bought 200 lbs of Laguna B-Mix cone 10 clay and started making pieces... but then after careful consideration, which i have had a lot of time for since my wheel has been out of commission for 3 weeks(#@!??) but i digress...
I have decided for reasons too many to enumerate, but generally the wear and tear on the kiln, elements, thermocouples etc, that cone 6 functional ware will be the way of the future for this basement hobbyist. I will be firing to cone 10 once or twice to glaze these pieces. So, since i didn't want to mess with making my own glazes for so few pieces, i bought some commercial hi-fire cone 9-10 glazes from Spectrum.
My question is: does anyone have any experience with this combination of clay and glazes? And if so, could you please tell me about the fit? I am worried after much reading on the subject of crazing and poor fit that i may be running the risk of ruining all the pieces i've made if these two aren't compatible...
Thanx for taking the time,
