Hey Joyce or Mel,
I sent the following post in at 9:54 am on the 16th, and again at
noon today (18th). It still has not appeared. I also sent a second
post on the 16th about silt casting, and it has also not appeared. I
see a response that they are received, so I know they get to the
moderator, which in this case was Joyce.
I have been a moderator for another list for many years, so I
appreciate all that you do. I also understand that, yes, indeed, you
do have lives to lead and incomes to earn, and you both work hard on
a volunteer basis, and am grateful for what you do.
I would just like to know how the list is set up: Do you have members
on review for a certain length of time, or until they send so many
posts?
That is the way the list is set up that I help run. We have about
1,000 members internationally, and many of our folks are in quite a
bit of pain. For that reason, they can get grouchy and flare
occasionally. Hence the need for review until we are acquainted with
them a bit. But after about a month on the list, or 5 to 10 posts
without problems, we take them off review.
We have been members of Clayart for over three years, and during that
time we have not be frequent posters, but certainly not lurkers
either. Granted, we have had to change our e-mail address, but not
our name. We've always been Shaws or Shaw Pottery.
By the time my second post (on silt casting) will arrive, the subject
will be long over, I'm afraid. Hopefully the first will not suddenly
show up twice. I doubt it, because I know that Listserv deletes them
after so long without approval.
If you have a problem with our posts, please let us know, in order
for us to correct it. If you are swamped, I sympathize, and can wait.
I just don't want them deleted from Listserv before they are approved.
But if we are simply still on review, I think we have served our time
honorably and can surely be taken off review status so our posts can
arrive in a more timely fashion.
With appreciation for your work,
Rita (and Joe) Shaw

No need to see this as a personal slight -
I'm pretty sure we saw all your posts. I
didn't respond, having no expertise in that
area; any other non-responses could likely
be attributed to similar shortcomings in
others, or to sheer lack of time to respond.
There is no review process, except vetting
for inappropriate content. (No 'personal-
enlargement' schemes or long-lost lottery
heirs need apply!)
The fact that you've posted before without
difficulty should put your mind at ease,
that there is no bias involved. It doesn't
guarantee that your settings are all correct,
though. Some folks have reported that their
settings have inexplicably changed lately,
probably right after all the modifications
to the system. Just go to
http://www.ceramics.org/clayart/
and confirm that you are set for 'repro',
so that you can see your own posts and not
just other peoples'. Always a good idea to
assume that any problems are computer
glitches rather than personal spite unless
proven otherwise.
Nine time out of ten, it ain't nobody's
fault.
