I sent a reply to our moderators that discussed Titanium as a source of
yellow color. I got confirmation that it was received by the moderators. But it
was never posted. That is discouraging and an incentive not to contribute
to ClayArt.

Hello all you yellow glaze searchers; I have found that my rutile at 6% gives
me an honest -to-goodness yellow instead of the bone color as pictured in Ron
and John's M^6G book. This is on white to lite clay bodies. The rutile is a
TAM product, Reflux 61 as I remember.
(and to think I was disappointed not to get bone!) And it is a lot cheaper
than Mason stains for you teachers on low budgets. The brightest glossy yellow
was 12% rutile fired in a quick hot kiln, no slow cool. The softest prettiest
shade was 6% and satin mat, in a long slow four hour soak after ^6 was down (
old manual Skutt kiln). Take it away! It's yours...the yellow not the kiln.
Just remember, rutiles vary.

I am still searching for that elusive Spearmint, (new copper and rutile
arrived today), plus I'm excited over seeing pictures of layered Ravenscrag
slip...Don G's pot in the Clayart Gallery really enticed me; what a sensuous and
gutsy bowl, as well as the glazes on the blue pots breaking green. M-m-m. I
understand Axners carries the Ravenscrag now; Archie Bray or Baileys was a LOOONG
haul $$$ from Florida. Used as a light covering dip slip, (as in slipware, for a
dark clay body) it could change my pugmill needs; Lots to think about,
Lots to do, I stupidly did not break my Venco down and clean it when I decided
to pug white stoneware after brown I know, I know. But that was before I
discovered Mona Vie and turned my life around; For the first time in thirty years
I am nearly painfree my arthritic friends...I feel like a snake oil huckster.
Listen up Lily. If you don't know about it already, I will see that you do!
But that is for another e-mail.
