Has anyone tried this transparent glaze? I made some, did a test tile
on my reclaim clay which is a mixture of Miller 50 and Laguna 66 white
clay. It was fine, no crazing, no clouding, no shivering. I then used
the transparent on the inside of my mugs made with just Laguna 66
claybody. It cracked horribly. I thought it could have been thermal
shock from me. So I refired those pieces and added a couple of newly
glazed pieces. All on Laguna's #66 claybody. Well same
thing...cracking everywhere...to the point I have to throw everything
away because I feel it's not safe to sell or use.

So I am wondering....has anyone had similar problems with the 5/20 glaze
recipe? It is as follows:

20% Wollastonite
20% 3134
20% Silica
20% Kaolin
20% Feldspar

Or does someone have a stable transparent for cone 5-6 that does not
have tin in it?

Thanks in advance

Mastering Cone 6 adjusts this glaze to make a more stable base. What
surprised me when I first saw it, is that they actually drop the silica
value. (they also add Talc and drop the Wollastonite). I think though that
it is milky where thick. They have a liner glaze that I have not seen even
a suggestion of crazing which I like.

Their Glossy Black is now public. I would not speak for them but I think
this would give you a safe and good clear if you take out all the colorants.
