Hopefully someone can help me. I have been out of the pottery circle for
several years, but I'm back in it now. YIPPEE!! Anyway, I have several
cone 6 glazes that I would like to start using again, however, Gerstley
Borate is tombstoned. Is there a place to get Boraq 2 or do I need to mix
the recipe that I have for it? I can't remember where I got it from, but
this is it: Boraq - 84, Dolomite - 8 and Whiting - 8. Are there any
other reliable subs? Please overlook the word reliable, I'm using it for
lack of a better word. Also, I am looking for a nice smooth cone 6 clay
body. I heard there is a cone 6 that is close to B-mix. Does anyone know
what it might be?

Sherry, you can still get GB through Laguna Clay distributors. I use it
all the time.

For more stability, however, you might want to get a copy of Mastering
Cone 6 Glazes byt Ron Roy and John Hesselberth. They have a recipe for a
nice varigated blue that is almost a spitting image of Floating Blue.
This glaze uses a frit so no need to worry about the GB.
