I saw this on the www and I lost the webaddress.:-( There is a potter out
there who pulls really long handles and has invented something that holds
the clay suspended (from above) while they pull. I need to see it again.
I want to pull really long and wide handles and my wingspan it limited and
I really want to use BOTH hands to pull and shape.

With the collected knowledge and experience here, I know you can help.
Thank you in advance, I await your replys, comments, and smart remarks.

Teresa,
I'm sure there have been any number of potters who have "invented" something
to suspend clay while they pull long or thick handles (I won't ask what you
wish to do with this newfound skill!)

What I have done is to just take your clay "carrot" and stick it onto
anything higher than you are, such as a shelf edge, and then just start
pulling. No secret to it. Or, if you are nervous about the clay coming off
of the shelf, just screw in a little block of wood onto the edge of the
shelf that the clay can be put over, so that it's embedded and will stop any
movement.

Nothing secret or hard about it. Go to it!

Maurice

If it's not the one she wants I want to say thank you...it's a nice one
and much better than just do it :)
