One the wheels we have here at the school is a ClayBoss. It's about one year old and yesterday stoped working. It worked fine for an entire year but now will not turn on. Has this happened to anyone out there? Thanks

Mr. Calhoun,
I've had two clayboss' crap out after less than a year. Both times the company fixed them we didnt even have to pay for shiping, they worked fine after that for a few more years but then quit again. The biggest problem I had with Creative Industries was a donated several years ago (whatever the next size up from a clayboss is) that wheel developed some massive short that we never could figure out, ended up just giving it back. I'd contact CI if I was you, hopefully they'll be helpful. I'll never buy another one of their wheels. Erik

First thing I'd check is a blow fuse in the controller.

Darrel -
I am not in Tennessee right now, so I can't go look at our ClayBoss wheels,
but I am assuming that they have a fuse. Have you checked that? Also, I
think that the "weakest link" in the ClayBoss is the design of the foot
pedal. If someone accidentally places it upside-down on the floor it will
still work fine, but any water and dirt will enter the pedal housing instead
of just running off onto the floor. It doesn't take much contamination to
start causing trouble in there. I'd disassemble the foot pedal housing and
clean out any debris and determine whether the speed-control mechanism might
be damaged.
CI is very good about customer service, so if you are unable to figure this
out easily I'd just give them a call. They should be able to talk you
through it.
Good luck -

I have a clay boss that was sent back 3 months after I purchased it
(well the foot pedal and computer chip were) because it just stopped
working. I then didn't use it for about a year because I was moving
over 300 miles while going back to school full time. I then used it for
about 3 months and had the massive short....if you touched the metalpart
of the wheel while it was on....zzzzap!!! you got it. Then the wheel
wouldn't turn off. You'd turn it off....it was like the energizer
bunny. So back the control box went again....this time I got it back
and it sits. I don't know how long it will last this time. The company
will repair it if it's under warranty. Once my warranty is up....I'm
not putting any money into the wheel. I have soldners and brents that
work beautifully....never a problem. I'd get on the phone with them,
they will tel you how to remove the box and send that and the foot pedal
into them. It took about 3 weeks to get mine resolved and they never
reimbursed shipping either time but if it's under warranty still why not
let them fix it.

I think the reason shipping was not charged was because I have a great relationship to my supplier and they do good business with CI. Just a guess. Erik

Could be. I have great a relationship with my supplier but I purchased
this wheel directly from clay-king because their shpping was good at the
time. I then had to deal with CI directly. Another of those purchase
locally....it's a good thing/
