ts v. axner

Hi all. I'm still trying to decide what electric wheel I want for my
home studio. I'm leaning towards the TS Classic (with the SSX drive),
but I'm also considering one of the Axner Super Pro wheels. I've looked
through the archives, and seen plenty of good things about the TS
wheels, but I haven't seen anything about Axner wheels. Has anybody had
any experience on the Axner Super Pro wheels? Do you recommend these
wheels? Thanks much.

Jason,

I do not have a comment on the wheel, but do on Axner. I had a bad
experience with them and will not buy anything from them again.

I bought an item from them online in late August. It was not an Axner built
item, but one they sold for another manufacture. After receiving the item,
I judged the item to be under designed and built with potential failure
points. I just wasn't happy with it and called them to return the item. I
did not get them on the phone, but was told to leave a message by their
answering machine and someone would call me back. After a few days of
waiting, I called again and got an operator. She said the people that
handled returns were not available, but she would take a message and someone
would return the call. Both of these calls were made during business hours.
After a few more days and no one calling, I sent an email and finally got a
reply after a few days. After a few emails back and forth, I was told to
send my purchase to the manufacture and he would judge if the item I had
purchased was "defective" even after I had told them I did not want a
replacement, but wanted a refund. The manufacture stated that it was not
defective. After a few more emails, they said they would submit the
paperwork for a refund to the Laguna corporate office in California after
they got the item back from the manufacturer. Axner in Florida, I was told,
could no longer process refunds since they had become part of Laguna.

The refund finally posted to my account in the middle of December. It was
very aggravating and I will shop elsewhere from now on.

Jason,
I have purchased several items and clay from Axner's and have never had a problem with service or quality.
I don't assume to know what the problem with customer service was back in August, but I assume they were busy getting supplies out for the schools at that time. Axner's is a small organization but very friendly and helpful. I have always been treated very well.
Just wanted to let you know they are not all bad!!
I have no connection to Axner's other than a satisfied customer.

I second that. I have dealt with Axner and always found them
responsive to customer issues. I hope that the Laguna move does not
affect that.

I have an Axner M-900 wheel, and have been using it regularly for almost three years. I love the
wheel, and even convinced the local college to begin to use their wheels also. They have been slowly
switching over to using the Axner wheels, and I have been monitoring the equipment to see possible
signs of wear. The wheels are used by beginning throwers, and take the abuse very well. I am
currently looking to purchase six more wheels for my expanding studio, and the Axner wheel is on
the top of my list.

Axner has recently been purchased by Laguna, and several of their policies have changed, so I would
double check their warrenty before buying the equipment.

Good luck on your decision, and have a good new year.

Carly

In response to very nice post on the Axner M-900 pottery wheel=85

Axner Wheels still come with the same excellent warranty. Axner =20
Pottery Supply remains staffed with most of the people that you have =20
come to know and love. We are still very involved with the Axner =20
Pottery Wheel, and with the complete satisfaction of its users. And =20
now the entire Laguna organization is behind Axner Pottery Wheels too.
