single fire question

I'm wanting to do a little experimenting with single firing. I fire at two temps, garden items at 05 and functional items at 6, both in electric kiln. I mostly am using slips and incising for decorative work and only use clear glaze only as a sealant and to render a gloss finish. I think this would make my ware a good candidate for single firing. I read Dennis Parks book on single firing. He glazes his pieces at bone dry, mostly dipping and pouring, according to him just his preference. I do my decorative slip work and incising at the leatherhard stage. I want to continue to spray the clear glaze coat. He says use a glaze with high clay content if you glaze at wet or leatherhard, and use a glaze low in clay content if you're glazing bone dry. I'm not sure if the best approach would be to put the glaze finish coat on immediately after the slipwork or wait until the ware is bone dry. I would appreciate your thoughts and feedback.
