OK maybe I'm illiterate or something, but I have never been able to tell
what in Jorge's posts is his question or comment. Usually, as far as I
can tell, his posts are a repeat posting of something someone else said,
and if he put a comment in, I can't find it. I don't mind if he writes
in Spanish, Babelfish will translate it for free; besides that, it gives
the ol' brain-o a little workout to see if I can figure it out on my own.

Crazing is a function of the relationship between you clay body and the
glaze that is put over it.
If you start to combine two glazes you introduce more variables and =
reduce
your control over the situation.
Go back to basics. Ask questions about the cause of 4-3-2-1 crazing =
then
try out proven ways of exercising control as described by Frank Hamer or
Cooper and Royle.
By the way, 20% Manganese Dioxide is an enormous quantity dissolve in a
glaze. I would expect a dark metallic pewter, not what you say you are
getting.

I don't think you are illiterate since I have the same perception...uh uh
does that mean we both are, illiterate that is! Maybe this is where the
expression "lost in the translation" came from.

It was a mysterious message -- titled 'greetings from the
workshop gallery' and the body is 'ceramic ponies' (loose
translations). Plenty of things in Spanish are above my
reading skill, but his message is not -- it just seems
irrelevant, or, perhaps, truncated.
On a more positive note, have you ever read Borges' "The
Aleph?" I brought together my understanding of Portugese
by reading it (under it's Brasilian title "O Aleph"), and
later in the original and, finally, some of the stories
in Romanian. It translates with huge precision, so if you've
read the stories in English, it's a good study tool in other
languages.

No, I have never read anything (books, not road signs) outside of
Spanish class that wasn't in English. We had a mystery book to read in
Spanish class (the butler did it) but that's about it.
I don't get the point of copying someone's posting, and then changing
the subject line to "Greetings from the workshop gallery", or anything
else, unless you have something to say. These posts, and this is not
the only one, don't seem to have anything from Jorge other than his
changed subject lines. Perhaps I should go to Babelfish, write the
question to Jorge, and post to him and see what the deal is....

I've gotten one of those from him privately. I thought it was spam and
treated it as such. No, offense, Jorge. A nice woman from Belgium once
sent out a Hallmark e-mark and I thought it was attempts as spamming.
