Lili
many years ago my mother and i were driving to Walla
Walla from Seattle and we wen through the little town
of Touchet , washington
before i go any further , i'd like each of you to look
at that word and decide how you would pronounce it.

I, headed to college, and having had high school
French, was positive it was pronounced "too-shay" ,
Washington

my mother, taking the farm country approach, insisted
it was
"touch it" , Washington
we were both sure we were correct.
as it turns out, the correct pronunciation was
"too-shee"

LAter , the good folk of Touchet capitalized on the
sound of their name . it was the site of the hiney
winery.....

your comment about the rhine and the rhone was great!
my first reaction was "omigod and all this time i
thought they were 2 different rivers! " and they are,
but you got me there for a second!!!!
