need a good clay scale

Nancy, I just looked at the scale and the question came to mind as to how
will you use this scale? It only weighs pounds and ounces. Do you want it
for weighing clay or glazes? Personally I would shy away from a spring
loaded scale as I have found that they are relatively inaccurate. Since
glazes are usually weighed by grams, then this one would not be useful at
all.

If you are not fussy about accuracy in the weight of a ball of clay, then I
would say it might be a bargain. However, I would not purchase such a
scale.

That is just my opinion, however and I am sure you will get many different
answers.

Hi Bonnie

Oh no it's not for glaze weighing, it is for clay weighing. Now me not
being a production potter, if a ball of clay is off by a couple of
ounces, doesn't matter to me. These scales are great especially in a
classroom setting where students don't seem to respect the equipment as
much as if it were their own. I check accuracy occassionally by using
my digital scale and then I adjust the spring loaded scale to match.
It's easy as pie to do.

I think, as with techniques, everyone has their own opinions on what
they like, don't like, use, don't use, recommend, don't
recommend...that's what makes life and this group so great. Listen to
all, try what you want and find your own style and method and use what
works for you.
