Can anyone recommend a reputable credit card processing company to use - and which equipment is best for art shows?

I've been using Nova Information Systems through Costco for the last five
years, and have had no problems of any kind. I accept Visa, MC and AMX. I
never wanted the expense of a terminal, so I use a "knuckle buster" for
credit card imprint and process the slips when I get home, through an
internet accessible payment process.

Occasionally a person will be over their credit limit, but a phone call has
always quickly solved the problem. The only uncollectible charge that I ever
received was for $29, about three years ago.

While I would like the electronic capture, I still don't want the expense of
the equipment.

Hope this helps.

Hi Cindy,

I simply called my bank (Suntrust), a huge conglomerate all over the
East Coast, thinking, what the hell, they won't be able to help me,
little-craftsman-selling-my-wares-at-weekend-fairs that I am, but lo and
behold, in their Merchant Account department, they had a specialist who
worked with "seasonal vendors" and helped me set up a low fee account
with affordable equipment. I'm sure other people will have other
suggestions as well, and you will want to search the archives - there
will be information there, too.

The ability to take credit card definitely increased my sales.

I researched several options before deciding on using ProPay. They offer
different levels of service. I bought a knuckle buster to use at the shows
and you can either call in on your cell phone on the spot and get a
confirmation number immediately or you can enter the sales through their
website. I started out by calling them in at the time of sale but felt bad
making people wait so now I simply call them later or enter them online.
Their website is www.propay.com.
