problems with computer controller

Hey crew,
Hoping somebody can steer me in the right direction :
I have an Olympic kiln with the computer controller... and it is
starting to act up .
The controller has an on-off switch on the side of the control box
....and if I turn the switch off, and then back on, ` I will
sometimes have trouble getting the display to turn on ... There is a
light on the side of the box to indicate whether the kiln is on or off and
the light lights so it looks like its getting power... Its just that
the display for the controller wont come on...
If I press the OFF keypad on the controller itself a few
times, the display eventually comes on ... and as long as I dont shut
off the switch , the controller key pad and display works fine... (
Also, I have to bend down to hit the buttons on the controller so
Im not hitting the keypads straight on but more from off to the side...
so I dont know if that is contributing to the problem )
Im suspecting dust ( or cat hair or both ) in the control box or
possibly a lose connection ....... My husband is good at repairing stuff
..... but my question is, is opening up the control box and blowing
off the dust etc ( and tightening the connections) fairly
straightforward a process... or are we liable to screw something
up big time ?
Thanks

Marci, the controller takes awhile to boot up, because it
runs a series of calculations in the background. I suggest
that you wait longer for the display to appear. That may
solve the problem.
