Dear Ron and Steve,
Once there are more than three ingredients things start to get a bit =
complicated and, in a strictly technical or scientific sense, the name =
changes to "Piercing Point". (See fig 808 in "Phase Diagrams For =
Ceramists; System K2O-MgO-Al2O3-SiO2, p 273)=20
The other thing that people seem to ignore is that if it is a "Eutectic =
Composition" in the scientific sense, on cooling, even quenching just to =
emphasise speed, the result on solidification must, by definition, be an =
assembly of crystalline substances. It cannot ever be a glass or =
vitreous solid.=20
