nceca-a guide to getting the most out of

I have never gone to NCECA before.
Being new at it, I would like to ask for any suggestions that will make
it as rewarding as possible.
There are the obvious: Go to the convention, get a schedule, go to
things that interest you, visit open potteries and galleries etc.

Do you have to register with NCECA just to get in the door? $275.00
It appears that NCECA offers a schedule of activities, but I just
wondered how some of you navigate through it all to get the best "bang
for your buck".

Thanks

Dan

Dan,
I have been going to NCECA since 1971 and almost always find it a
great jump start after the winter in Montana.
Now that I am in Texas I still think I'll benefit from it.
You need a badge to get into any event including the trade show/
exhibition hall where
suppliers and non-profits have displays, posters, discounted
supplies, books, tools, etc.
You can get a single day pass or do the whole thing. Bus passes are
sold separately but with the registration package.
They will not be sold on site. I thought I read that..
The lectures and panels are starting at 8:30. There are also
discussion groups for Special topics.
The schedule is online at www.nceca.net
That will help you arrange your schedule.

You do have to be registered to get into the lectures or the vendors
space, or to go on the bus tours. I have always found that one of
the best ways to get a lot out of NCECA is to not try to plan too
much. Just float and be open to what comes along. This is the
friendliest, most inclusive bunch you'll ever meet, so just join in
the conversation wherever you are, and they'll welcome you. I have
made close friendships with people I've happened to sit next to on
the bus tours, or taken an open seat next to at a bar, or just
plopped down next to on a hotel lobby couch. In the last few years,
the Clayart room has made this kind of connection much more
possible. You can always just go there, join in with whoever's there
and have a great time. See you there!

Hi Paul,

Is your book still on target to be released by NCECA? I am very much looking
forward to owning a copy, preferably signed by you.

Best,
Bonnie
