fb that breaks green instead of brown?

Hi everyone,
Another newbie query: i have a friend who does pottery in Ontario at a
studio near her home. They make their own glazes and she uses their FB for
cone 6 that breaks green on textures instead of the brown that mine does.
Where she has feathered the edges of pieces they are blue...
I was wondering if anyone else had this and what the secret is? Should i
try less rutile and less RIO in my FB?
Or is this a different type of FB?
I did try making a floating green but it just came out a deep teal glossy,
pretty opaque & even, no floating at all... very possible that i goofed.

This is really a beautiful glaze and i would love to be able to try it so i
thankyou in advance for your help,

Anne, in Saint-Sauveur, getting ready to make more glaze tests!

I had that glossy teal green from floating blue also. Try using
distilled water. The minerals in the water can and will affect the
glaze. As for the other question, I kowtow to the knowledge of the
glaze gods, as I'm not knowledgable enough. Sorry. kathryn in NC ---

Cone 5 , cone 5, cone 5. If you overfire FB to cone 6 it will turn green.
Ugly green! Also if it is too thin it will turn brown, or black according to
the recipe you are using. Add 2% bentonite if it isn't in your recipe also
will help get it to the correct thickness. Also go to this page for
different recipes. http://www.potters.org/subject16252.htm There is a
mountain of data for FBon potters.org Reading it will help. Gary Harvey,
