When I do "neriage" or agate ware, I use a metal rib
on the dry-side of leather hard as a scraper to
sharpen the lines. Then bisque.
If its exterior does not NEED glaze for functionality,
I "wet" the surface this way: I dip a sponge in the
clear, swish it about on the surface of the piece, and
then wipe it off. Enough glaze is residue and will
still have some effect to bring out the color. After
the firing it appears "wet" and deepens the color. I
have also glazed plates with a rice straw ash clear
that does not craze. any transparent glaze will work,
applied thinly enough not to pool and bubble and
"hide" the marbling.
Its also lovely just plain in a salt firing.
Good Luck!
