Mel,
Sounds great, but you are getting violent. I am sure it will not be hot
enough for a swim in the river!
Looking forward to seeing everyone.

i have been working with the galt house hotel to
finalize things for nceca.
we have a huge gang, many rooms booked.
and, they will still help us with more rooms if necessary.
we will have two clayart rooms. one for pots, one for people.
we can sure have a private show in the second room.
we will have 8 round tables in each room, with chairs. if we
want to lock the rooms at night, with our own key..it is a 50 dollar
charge(one time)...if we want big long tables, 30 bucks each. i am not
interested in putting this all on my credit card. so we will
see what we should do. av stuff is about a hundred bucks.
so. things are coming together.
they do not want pots in the lobby or corridors. only if we have
locked cases. liability is very serious with them...and i agree.
it only takes one potter, thinking their work is worth thousands, and
have it stolen...wham, big headache for mel.
so, remember, bring one pot to show, with you..make sure you
have simple display materials, or just set it on a table.
the mug exchange will no be affected by this showing.
this is an open, free to all exhibit of a fine pot you have made.
(it is your pants around your ankles if you bring something awful.)

I understand that our Mayor has contracted with the Dolita Dohrman =
Automated
Kiln Loading Society for use of an industrial strength potter-flinger =
for
just such an event, with prizes going to "biggest splash" "loudest
screeching" and "best arc" categories.
BTW, if we are setting up on tables in the room, which I believe is now =
the
plan, that eliminates the need for us to bring floor pedestals on which =
to
display our work. However, it might be nice (to flatten for inclusion =
in
one's baggage and) bring a small cardboard box (decorated appropriately) =
for
use as a "mini-pedestal" on the table. Having small pedestals of varying
heights and d=E9cor would work to everyone's advantage, and create =
visual
interest as well.
I don't think anyone wants to hear "What's that? Oh, just a table full =
of
brown pots."

Hi Wayne,
Glad to hear that swimming is not involved, since I can barely swim. Guess I=
=20
will just have to sink to the bottom!
Thanks for the suggestions about bringing collapsible and disposable=20
pedestals. Will have to put on my thinking cap.=20
Thanks for thinking about how we can chip in to pay the extras for the=20
Clayart room. The Mayor should certainly not have to foot the bill.
Looking forward to all the fun, camaraderie and exchanges with Clayarters.
By the way, I did cast my vote for the Potters Council.=20
All the best.
