just a quick note to clear the air.
i am not begging for money. if i cannot stand
the heat, i should get out of the kitchen.
a couple of problems.
historically acers paid for the
clayart room. they do not do that
any longer. funds have dried up.
just the way it is.
i have worked out a system of making sure
we have booked a few hundred rooms at any
hotel we use, and the clayart room is kicked in..free.
i negotiate that...my time, my credit card.
we are not sponsored, and i want to keep it that way.
however, that is a very risky idea...for me.
as i have said, the galt house and a lot of responsibly
is on my `master card`.
so far, so good. but, it is amazing how hotels can
find hidden charges....someone orders something for the
clayart room and signs for it.....that bill shows up on my
master card in april. i pay it. it happens every year.
last year...$296.
no fraud, just folks not thinking. ` someone else must be
paying this bill...you know, `big brother` pays for everything`.
the great american dream...someone else pays for it.
so. i mentioned this to wayne, just in passing...and we know
wayne does not sit still for anything...he acts. so. again, he
will take care of the `american dream` this year. he will pass
the hat.
i refuse to make this complex, or mandatory. it is simple.
add a few bucks tip to the clayart room. i gave 50 bucks to
the clayart room waiter last year. well worth it. he did a great
deal for us.
as with clayart, i do this because it is `worthy`...it is the right
thing to do. no one gives me `permission`...it is my deal.

Well, dear Mel...
Credit where credit is due of course, and blame boots you in the =
butt.(OWW!)
I'm (one of) the idiot(s) responsible for some of the extra charges.
I went and asked for the projector screen last year for the computer, =
not
realizing that hotels charge for things like that. Mea Culpa.
I also didn't realize that we are not sponsored. I thought ACerS picked =
up
the tab for the Clayart room. And of course, I had no idea the Clayart =
Room
had a steward. (I guess I'm so na=EFve sometimes it's pathetic.) Like =
you say,
luck is prepaid. Someone is footing the bill at all times. Few of us
realized just who that someone was. We do know now.
We will make sure that all extra charges are covered. You do so much =
for us
that we should take up a collection to send YOU to NCECA for free each =
year.
As I said before...Fair is fair.
Best,
Wayne Seidl

The generous ones always seem to get stuck with the bill.
It will not happen again.
Sorry, but this is "our" deal.
