I never fired glazed beads but the following worked well for me in lieu
of a bead rack:
--Bend short lengths of element wire into a simple form resembling a a
chair without hind legs.(vertical then horizontal then vertical again)
If you are using old element wire you may have to heat it with a torch in
order to bend it.
--Stick one end of the wire into a slab of soft fire brick
-- Slip the bead onto the wire and the right angle bend will provide a
place for the bead to rest.
I have used the following technique to glaze small bead size balls
of clay with one color:
---put a batch of beads in a colander (mine was plastic with a handle) and
spray the beads with glaze while shaking the colander so beads are glazed
all over.

I just acquired this bead rack:
http://picasaweb.google.com/SunnyDazeDesign/TempFolder/photo?authkey=7qjA9p33GZE#5037743514582612098
Seven removeable ceramic rods. Each rack end is 2" x 6" X 6" high. Rods are
3/8"diameter x 7" long. All pieces are made from high temperature refractory
-stable up to cone 8.
Any suggestions on use? I am concerned with shrinkage. How "loose" should
the beads be at bisque and/or glaze firing?
Any tips on glazing? I know now to glaze the insides of beads so they do
not stick to the rods???
Has anyone every used one of these?

I will probably never do this but...... if the INSIDE
of the beads are glazed. don't the stick to the rod?
(Rod alternative - use thermocouples)

Yes, they sure would stick. They will stick to any part of the bead where
the glaze touches the wire. Coating the wire with aluminum paint laced with
alumina should help prevent sticking. John
