I have taken up the practice of knitting. Since major gastric by-pass =
surgery in November 2005 I have been looking for ways to stop snacking =
and for something to keep my hands busy instead of holding a whiskey =
glass. Knitting has allowed me to be at home instead of the studio, to =
be with my family and at the same time be more productive than just =
watching television. So I have knit a dozen or more hats since January. =
It occurred to me this morning that there may be some fellow kniiters =
among the clayart crowd. I am ready to move beyond simple knit hats but =
could use a tutor. I'll be in the clayart room often, and in the =
evening, bottled water and knitting in hand. Anyone who wants to join =
the knitting corner with me, I'd love the company. Any one who wants to =
teach a very beginner about socks, I'll buy you a drink.
See you next week

David, what the knitters of our town are doing is knitting hats for =
newborns
at the hospital. This is an active ongoing donation and it makes one =
feel
good at the same time. Think of your work as fitting a little new baby =
so
he/she can go home snug and warm in your hat. However, you may be =
living in
a perennially warm climate. If so, then scratch that idea. Where I =
live we
have very cold winters and those babies families sometimes don't have =
the
wherewithal to have proper clothing for the new baby and beyond. Then
another thing would be to knit mittens for little kids. Socks are good.
That would be a new challenge and a worthwhile project as well. So many
ideas and you have such nice busy hands. I hope you make it count for
something.

Hi David,
You are way advanced in your knitting skills over me. Each night when I
return from the barn after clay, I sit down and knit a scarf. You know
the ones, knit, knit, knit on jumbo needles and are completed in less
than 2 hours. Anyone need an extra scarf for NCECA? Please email off
line and I would be happy to ship them off.
