I purchased the Cress Clean Air System but have not been impressed with its
ability to exhaust out bad fumes when bisquing with wax resists.
I am thinking of returning it and buying a Skutt system. Anyone have
experience with either of these exhaust systems? (My kiln is a new cress-e
series)

I don't think you'll find any of the downdraft direct vent systems that will
remove all fumes/odors from the room. I have a Bailey hooked up to two kilns
at home and have two L&L systems hooked up to three kilns at school.
Both do a good job of removing fumes/odors, but they don't get all of it.
You might try closing down the secondary mixing air control during those
stages of firing that produce the most fumes and open it back up as the kiln
gets hotter.
