Normally, I would have just sat back and let others fight their
battles, especially when it's sounds like two bulls bellowing at each
other. I cannot remember the other person's name and am too impatient
to look it up in the archives. But it's an exchange between Vince and
the other gentleman about not wearing eye protection while using the
grinder, and this post is directed at this gentleman, as well as any
others who practise the same unsafe actions. I have tremendous amount
of respect for Vince, for his intelligence, his continuing warmth and
willingness to share the infomations that many of us benefitted from.
Plus, he looks cute in his pix. Now, I feel that the way Vince has
responded to the other's lack of safety is more on the level of a
sibling that cared to tell him how he must have a guardian angel.
Yes, we know , Gentle Being, that you probably don't put yourself in
the line of fire. I doubted that many of us would have expected you
to do that, but like the bellowing of a sibling to another, "Why are
you doing that moronic thing???? Don't you know that you can injure
yourself seriously???" Simply put, the emphasis is that you have been
lucky SO FAR. And that's all there is to it-luck. Once in awhile,
Chaos will happen and all it takes is one split second. These things
don't just happen to other people, they happen to YOU. A split second
and your life is changed forever. We aren't supposed to bury our
children. We are supposed to live happily ever after. We are supposed
to be wealthy and carefree. Our world isn't supposed to be like this.
All it takes is a split second. Consider this a sisterly bellow added
to Vince's brotherly bellow-KNOCK IT OFF! Please! As Clayarters, we
are a family that cares so much about each other and perhaps have
many stories to tell, "Oh, if only he didn't do that, he wouldn't be
like this, the poor thing!I must warn others about it" Pottery is
forever, but eyesights can rarely be restored fully. Warmly, Kathryn
in NC who got bellowed at alot for stupidly putting her unprotected
hands in unwashed wood ash. Also, OT-the birds are singing alot this
week. If you listen really hard, you will realize that it's at least
three to five different species singing to each other. Beautiful!Just
beautiful!
