penises/vaginas & sofa art

I don't really have anything to say on Penises. Actually, that's a lie. I
always do, but I won't say it here.

To switch direction on this topic: we are lucky enough here in Brooklyn to
have one of the best (and underappreciated) art museums in the country. The
end of March will give us the opening of the Sackler Center for Feminist Art
within the Bklyn museum. Going even further, this will be the permanent
home for Judy Chicago's "The Dinner Party"

http://www.brooklynmuseum.org/exhibitions/dinner_party/

While I did not see the original post, I just want to ditto Lili's excellent
post. There is nothing wrong is doing provocative work, whether sexual or
political or religious - pick your provocation. Just remember that is
oftentimes difficult for people to separate their views with whatever stick
your poking them with. That said, this should not be the case in an
educational environment, where the whole of the work - the technique/the
content/the historical significance/if the artist achieved his or her goal
in expressing the idea.

And about Sofa Art:

Don't knock it. I would love to someday be Betty Woodman, or Judy Chicago,
or Picasso, but the fact is that is not my audience right now. I am working
on what will likely be a lucrative commission for a large set of dinnerware.
The catch: the couple want beige. Lots and lots of beige, which was sent
to me in the form of many jpegs of their sofa, dining room and living room.
I charge extra for colors not in my palette, and the truth is, I love making
the stuff, and it's not me who has to eat off of it. It will be the most
beautiful beige ever, give me some practice with colors I don't usually use
(always a spark for creativity). And it will literally put food on my
table.

They love my work - they just want to love it more. That's totally fine by
me.

...Lo
Who wonders if the www.crochetmycrotch.com person gets much work.

The earmuffs are an enchanting idea for a fashion accessory tho'- nice play
on words there..
As you say, I dont spose she is overwhelmed with orders, who knows, maybe
it's a niche market ??

Actually, my very cool dad found this site and sent it to me. Let's just
say a platonic male potter friend, who also crochets, made me a stunning
gift last year.
