Over a year ago we lost our floating blue cone 6
glaze for whatever reason. We have 2 or 3 recipe
variations but all we came up with was black,
despite thickness and temperature adjustments. As
a result I concocted a recipe (below) that does
work, providing you get it on thick enough and
fire it to a 'hot' cone 6. However, this glaze
settles FAST and HARD!! Anybody get me out of
this and still keep the floating blue?

FLOATING BLUE 'A':

Nephsey Syneite-----------43
Frit 3134-----------------33
Flint (silica)------------10
EPK-----------------------14
Rutile---------------------4
Iron Oxide-----------------2
Cobalte Carb---------------1
Bentonite------------------2

This is the one our studio uses and is also on
http://www.frogpondpottery.com/glazestability/stableglazes.html (a site I
recommend to everyone). At sometime it was reformulated to use Frit 3134
but I don't remember the outcome. Oddly this does not like slow cooling
and does like to be thick.
