Dear Anthony Vodraska,
High Salt content seems to be true. I have a bottle that gives 18% Salt =
and 35% Water. Also about 5 gms of solids per 15 mls.
If used as a pretreatment at temperatures above 800 deg C sodium =
chloride may become an active glaze for raw clay. I presume the dark =
colouring is something like Caramel and with the protein, act as an =
adhesive.
Another interesting variant is Vegemite, a traditional Australian =
condiment that has a stiffer consistency.
As has been said before, Grocery shelves contain many interesting =
challenges to the potter.
Best regards,
Ivor Lewis.

South Australia.
