Yeah, Taylor, who DID bring that beer?
You know, that stuff that was not Shiner Bock, it was some kind of
Pennsylvania Bock, I think.
At least I have more room in the kitchen now.
Luckily, I know someone who lives next door to the Shiner Bock factory
in Texas. (or something like that).
And he has promised to bring everyone in the Clayart room a Shiner Bock
next year in New Orleans.
He told me that when he wasn't laughing really loud.
Aren't Texans great?

Howdy y'all,
I had no idea. One would think that I should have figured it out, but
there you have it: Taylor had no clue what he was getting into when he
went to NCECA. I got home Sunday afternoon and I kissed Marsha right
on the mouth. Without her finding the means for me to go, I never
would have made it to NCECA with my toothbrush and enough underwear.
Now, getting a ride from the airport to the Galt was MY job and I
failed miserably. Thanks Wayne and Joe for bailing me out at almost
the last minute.
Though he doesn't know it, I owe Vince two beers. Those he brought to
the clayart room were yummy. Who again brought the beer that tasted
like swill? After two of Vince's beers it tasted pretty good anyway. I
caught myself laughing a bit too loud after that.
I gifted the nice soda/woodfired teabowl I received in the exchange to
Galt housekeeping. Red, if you remember my sideburns, give me a shout
out via email so I can remember your name and tell you how fantastic
your piece was. The great clayarter who received my piece, do the
same. I had no idea that the clayart room would be closed before I
could get back with you and have a nice chat. Next year I stay put in
the clayart room on exchange night, dammit.
I was the recipient of many many small kindnesses. Rest comfortably
assured back in your homes that they did not go unnoticed. I will
answer those that I am able.
Many of you make work that I have admired for several years. To
finally meet some of you and to see your work in person was
particularly meaningful, not to mention really cool man. I hope I did
not embarrass myself too much.
Now, back at home, I'm bobbing on the surface of mundaneness, hoping
all the things that dropped in past the curtains of my eyes and the
conchs of my ears will do a good work in me. Let's keep our fingers
crossed, eh?
My next goal is a submission to TCA's member's Six Pack show. Fellow
Clayarters, keep me on track. Don't let me flounder. In other words,
sharpen your boots.

Taylor,
It was my tea bowl that you had received. As I am building a salt kiln this
summer, I will send you another one to replace it if you would like. It was
good to meet you and have the quick chat before I left for a HUGE dinner at
Saffron's (with the 23 people that were there, it was nothing if not
entertaining. Putting a face to your e-mails will be much easier now.
