Several years ago, I saw an exhibition at the Los Angeles County Museum of
Art that had traveled from the Met, "The Legacy of Genghis Khan, Courtly Art
and Culture in Western Asia, 1256-1353". The show's scope was amazing, but
my favorite section was the textile and tile exhibits... here were examples
of the beautiful work we usually only get to see in books, unless you can
travel to Persia.
Needless to say, I had to buy the exhibit catalog. The text is wonderfully
revealing from a cultural as well as technical viewpoint, the photos large
and well printed.
