air bubbles?/lime pops

Bunny,

This does sound like a lime pop off to me - do you wedge your clay up on
a plaster slab? Sometimes a little bit of plaster (a tiny piece!) can
get wedged up in the clay, and when you bisque it, it causes something
like what you described. If you were to take out the cracked bit, you
may even see a tiny white dot at the very top (or bottom - at the
beginning, at any rate) of the blow out.

as a kid at the dr's office.
