Didn't quite understand the post below to clayart, but thought I would share some info for those who didn't know...
The majority of Michael Cardew's papers, copies of publications, works - incredible pots and things that he collected during his life as a potter are now with his son Seth in Spain. Wenford Bridge POttery in Cornwall was sold three, maybe four years ago and Seth and his wife moved to sunny Spain. There are numerous videos in the collection of things as well - one that was made just a few months before he died. Seeing M. Cardew imprinted on trunks and boxes in the workshop and well as the "library" that Seth is working on and staying in the cottage where a lot of Mr. Cardew's work is displayed - it was a thrill for this Virginia potter. However, working with Seth and learning from him was the Icing on the Cake!

Contact Seth at scardew@aol.com... also his website.... www.cardew-spain.com
I received a letter from him earlier this week and he has finished planting his tomato plants and is back in the studio making pots. Such a nice guy!!

Some Americans make good slides. It is difficult to
measure the work done in a tiny country like England compared to the
work done in the USA. Might be better to compare it to a region or a
specific set of States. The diversity is more like you would find in
the whole of Europe.
I want to go back to England and see more. With friends in
Cornwall and me in Minnesota and Jean in Mashiko, we just might meet
in England. Airfare being half the cost of Narita to Mpls.
What I saw on my short visit last year, was not superior
to what I know is made in the Upper MidWest.
