Hello all,
This was my first NCECA and it was a great experience. I was thrilled to be
able to meet so many of you. After talking with a few of you, and some of
the discussions, I have re-designed the kiln I will be building this summer.
No, it will not be a flat top - but I have the arch brick already and I love
the look of the rounded kiln top. I have already started playing with new
techniques in my studio, and am looking forward to having my kiln built so I
can begin the glaze testing. I saw a lot of shows, with the Bourbon bottles
& the Clayart at the Janjobe being two of my favorites. However, the amount
of wood fired work throughout all of the galleries made me somewhat giddy.
The Clayart discussions on Electric Kiln Maintenance & Photography were
excellent and I am thankful for all the work people put into them as they
were very informative. The cup exchange was great (and my wife has already
claimed the cup I got from Cheryl Fisher as her own) and I look forward to
meeting more people this way next year.
As for the Clayart Room "Leftovers" - Logan passed on to me all of the items
that were not collected from the room when it was closed down. I have ended
up with a lot of bits from the electric kiln session, a wire bowl,
Tupperware - a very large blue one and some smaller items, and only one
piece of pottery. It is the lid to a pot that Taylor brought (Sue Beach
posted a picture of it here:
http://public.fotki.com/SueBeach/nceca-2007/1363taylorh.html ). If anyone
would like me to ship your items to you, just contact me off list and I will
be happy to.

Aw man, Luke:
I knew I should have asked Logan to 'look me in my eyes' and then ask
her if she saw my lid. We were all all a bit waaaaaah when we went
over to collect our pots from Logan's room. An old seminary friend in
Louisville got that topless pot and just loved it. Oh well, what can
the potter do but laugh then make more lids.

Hey there Taylor,
I never saw/ felt any lid in the big blue box when I pulled most of the paper out. all I saw was a silver basket thingy & the electrical leftovers I'm so sorry I missed it!!!! I thought I checked everything real well including the packing paper. I guess that'll teach me to think! Especially right after nceca!
