hotels in new orleans

thanks for all the support, and i do
appreciate it.

but the bottom line is still.
what is available?
will they work with us?
can they fill our needs?
where are they?

it is the same story each year.
we search, hopefully with a local
person...as we did this year with dolita.

then i make calls and talk to the manager of
the hotel. it has to be me, as they need
a credit card and a firm direct contract.

i will not work with a hotel that does
not have a contract system...all things spelled out.

this ain't a committee. this is me, the hotel and
a concept of `getting a job done`.

these hotel people are very smart, the call the hotels
we have rented before and get our track record.
they also have a computer generated `tracking system` to see
if we fulfill our obligations. we have an A+ rating.
at that helps us.

so, all the suggestions in the world will not help me much.
i just have to get on with it. see what is out there,
talk to some people and see what's `cook'n`.
and, i will do that.

i start monday. and hopefully we can find someone that is on the ground.
i may call mary bourner, she has ties in new oleans...several attorney
friends of bill. i have stayed in their homes...sorta friends. but, who knows
if they are still there.?

This really is a year-round planning event, huh? I remember when I rejoined clayart last June and kept hearing references to NCECA in Louisville and at first I thought it was in July or August and then when I found out it wasn't until MARCH 2007.......goodness....but with all the logistics that have to be worked out, I can see where it is quite a daunting task.
Mel, you are truly amazing. I used to get whacked out organizing dinners for 800, a one night event that lasted four hours and took several months to plan...and here you are taking on , yet again, 300+plus people to house, feed, placate, guide,...whew ...whew.......I am impressed!!! And it is so nice to see a dedicated spirit of clay take it above and beyond what's in your own backyard.
If I can assist in any small way or whatever way, please let me know.
Thanks, Mel!
Beth in VA.................sun today,,,warmer weather....SAD is lifting, finally. :)

What? You don't dance? You don't give the music a "spin?".....Mark, shame on you...pretend you are a piece of clay - spinning on the wheel, but at slow speed...let the music and the potter you are dancing with move you!!! LOL

Hi all,
I have a classmate who is in real estate in NO.
Perhaps he could help us. I can ask him to contact
Mel or whoever is doing the planning. He is pretty
high on the city so I imagine if he can't help us he
could put us in touch with someone who can.
Patti Petit, who know what it means to miss New Orleans
