new camera - pot photos - yippee! :-)

I finally got myself into the 21st century and bought a digital camera.
Now I am playing with it, and I just love the instant gratification -
right away I know if I am out of focus or accidentally cut someone's head
off! :-)

At any rate, since I was playing with the camera, I posted photos of my
pots that came out of today's kiln load. I can honestly say I was pretty
disappointed. The firing did not reduce, so most everyone's pieces did not
come out the correct color. I am going to ask my teacher what happened
when he fired the kiln. Oh well, it gives me the motivation to get better
at throwing so I can justify having my own kiln someday!

And constructive comments of the non-devastating variety are welcome. :-)

Stephanie

Too bad for the misfired glazes Stephanie,
but congrats on the new digital and your bravado at plunging right in
and taking photos to post to the web.
I like the nice blue bowl but the black? cone 10 vase is my favorite.
Like John H told us at NCECA, digital is the way it is. No getting around
it.
Now I have to get one of those black to white variegated backdrops he
recommended
for my photo cube.
Thanks for sharing,
Angela Davis

Well Stephanie, I really liked all of your pictures! I know when we make
something, we get this visual in our heads, and I for one get very
disapointed apon opening the kiln and the piece does not come out to my
liking - but.....those pieces seem to be the ones that sell first!

From your pictures, I thought all came out very nice. I really liked that
plum vase with some blue in it!!
