First of all I want to thank everyone who sent me emails offering advice and
helping me out. I really appreciate it so much! I think I've emailed most
of you personally, and if I haven't I will. I wish shipping a kiln wasn't so
darn expensive because I got several very nice offers.

I missed out on that kiln on ebay, I couldn't decide quick enough. It ended
up going for $102, which I think would have been a pretty good deal.

Anyway I think I've figured out what I'm going to do. I didn't realize that
there is a company not 20 minutes from here that makes kilns. They are
called Vulcan. The only reason I found them is because I found another kiln on
ebay, made by this company, when I googled them to find out more info on this
kiln I realized they were local. I called them and talked to their extremely
nice and helpful kiln guy who offered to look at the ebay listing and tell
me what it would cost to refurbish. He also told me that if that didn't work
out they were in the middle of a refurbishing that would go for ~$350. It's
pretty small, but that's what I need.

If anyone has any feedback on Vulcan kilns I'd love to hear about it!

Thanks again!
Leigh

Took a quick look at their web site.
Seems like a decent kiln if your intentions are ^6 firing.

The fact that they are one piece and not sectional is good & bad.
Good that there is a bit less heat loss, bad that it'll be a bit more
difficult to move the kiln around.

So before you buy one, make sure you know how much it weighs and you will be
able to fit it through doorways to where it will be located.

Yes, cone 6 are is my intention. When I talked to them they said that the
kilns were "rated for cone 7" but could go higher, but then it would void the
warranty on the elements. I wasn't sure what to make of that. Since I'm
planning on going to cone 6, I figured it would do me for now, and anything I
want fired higher I can do at the studio.

I will be sure to ask them about weight and transportation. Since they are
only 20 minutes away they'd probably help me get it home for a small fee.
It's going in the garage, so getting it through the door won't be an issue,
but I guess it would be wise to measure anyway, in case things change in the
future.

Thanks for your help!
Leigh
