bisque and glaze at the same time

I'm sure this has been discussed here before, but here goes my question:
I usually bisque at 05, glaze at 06. But I have half a load of greenware
ready to bisque and half of bisque ready to glaze fire. Why can't I do both
at the same time at 05? any good reason not to? (I have an envirovent).Clay
is white earthenware with colored underglazes, covered with a clear glaze.
TIA
Sharon

I've combined bisque and glaze with no problems.

hi sharon
i have frequently done both at the same time. usually the only difference
between bisque and glaze firings for me as that i raise the temp slower on
the former. so i just do a combined firing as tho it were all bisque (don't
want pots breaking because there was too much moisture to withstand the
faster upping of the temp done for an all glaze fire batch of ware. i have
seen no difference in the outcome.
best, joanna

I don't have alot of experience yet, so I will be interested to see what
other
resonses you get, but... I have fired both bisque and glaze firings in the
same load several times and have never noticed a problem.

Sharon,
I've found that the glaze comes out bubbly and hazy when it's fired with
greenware. I guess it's the gases from the greenware that interact with the
glaze.

The reason that you should not fire glazes and greenware together is due to
the conatimnationl that can occur to the glazes from the gases that emit from
the greenware. It can ruin a glaze piece, and I would advise you to never
fire the two together.
