I am looking for 2-3 people who would be interested in throwing with kids a=
t a summer day camp in Alexandria, Virignia, on Mondays during the summer. =
It is a paid position that runs Mondays 9:00am-3:00pm, June 16-August 25 (n=
o June 30). We may be flexible on hours if necessary. You should be able =
to work at least half of the dates. You won't have to make lesson plans, or=
teach a structured class, just be competent at throwing a 1.5 pound ball o=
f clay and help the campers have fun with the wheel.
=20
We will be doing all the throwing while the kids sit at the wheel and are a=
ble to touch and feel the clay and feel like they have had a hand in making=
the pieces. It is for the experience of it and seeing a wheel up close, no=
t a lesson. The kids are aged 7-11, and we have a short time with each chil=
d. We made mugs at our spring break camp and the kids LOVED it. Even though=
each one only had about 5 minutes on the wheel, they all wrote on their ev=
aluations how much they enjoyed it, and several said they are signing up fo=
r classes now.
=20
If you or someone you know is intersted, I can be reached at 703-578-7888, =
or at gmathias@winklerpreserve.org.=20

Many thanks,
