novice wants glaze advice

I would appreciate some advice on a simple, easy-to-use glaze for a
first attempt at firing earthenware. I have an electric kiln that I have
never used..the manual is in the mail I hope.

I am attempting to learn this without benefit of instruction because there
are no potters in this area. If anyone would be kind enough to write to me
about this, and give me instructions, I would be very grateful.

hi judy ... a good place for you to start would be daniel rhodes' "clay and
glazes for the potter" or even better greg dalys' "glazes and glazing
techniques"

Dear Judy,
Lots of advice...if you are just getting started, then I think that you need=
to
consider several things. One thing would be borrowing or purchasing a =
teaching
video about glazing. An experienced teacher can teach you more valuable =
things
in an hour than you can learn with books or trial and error in weeks. My own
advice to start is make sure you get that manual and be safe with your kiln.
Kilns are nothing to fool around with. Secondly, I would buy some commercial
glazes that =22fit=22 your earthenware. Anyway, have fun, but be safe.
