Thanks to all for the responses both on and off list. Seems to be evenly =
split
between carbide drill bits and masonary drill bits. Several people =
mentioned
dremel tools and I rec'd one response about a Black and Decker Wizard. As =
soon
as I get to Home Depot I'll check out the options =24=24 wise=21 Thanks =
again=21

We drill far too many holes in bisque. My advice is first of all to plan
ahead more than we do! That said, for larger holes (7/8 inch) we use a
drill press with a dome-shaped bit encrusted with silicon carbide (I think)
grains. Support the piece WELL or the chatter will tear it apart.

For smaller holes, try a Dremel Moto-Tool with a 1/16 inch carbide tipped
bit. Somewhere in the literature for this tool I saw a photograph of an
amazing application: drilling a neat hole through a lead crystal goblet.
Keep that in mind for when the dinner guests won't leave...
