Hey Chris, you can get some good glaze effects from fertilizers, and =
other household, under the sink type materials. copper is often present, =
especially in things like Miracle Grow and micronutrient formulas. Just =
remember that fertilizers are allowed to have a lot of extranious stuff, =
particularly in the heavy metals category, that is not listed on the =
ingredients.

Looking for info regarding using fertilzer for glazes.
I remember seeing an article in Aug. of '97 about this.
Wondering if anyone is doing this, and the pros/cons.
Thanks,

>From the answers I got, I realized that I better keep away from this heaven,
(I would not have to pay for it) as you cannot be sure about the
matterials safty for your health!(including poisonous ones, that are not
included in the given analysis)!

As more are going organic, there must be lots of bags of fertilisers in
garden sheds etc..
Another raw material for nothing. Lovely.

As I use natural RMs, I use the particles which will not go through the 100
lawn as fertiliser on the vegetable plot which is just adjacent the pottery.

So we can go both ways. Surprising how different occupations and hobbies can
link up together. Think wide screen.

Chris,
Find a copy of Fertilizers as Glaze Ingredients by
ALAN IRWIN CERAMICS MONTHLY JULY/AUGUST 1997. I have a copy I scanned in for
my personal use but I'm always reluctant to pass such information along
because of copyright laws.
