Hi!
I have this problem: Some of the pieces I make are very delicate. When I
clean and smooth them at greenware they break .After bisque too hard to kiln
with a grinding stone. Can I , these pieces, bisque to a lower temp., when
they are softer than regular bisque, clean and re-bisque?

Ababi,
try working on them when there are on the dry side of leather hard, they
should be less brittle then.

Yes you are right, but it does not always help. Next week, if the
photographs I have taken will succeed, I will add to my photo-album a
picture of a piece, made out of Limoge porcelain+ 10% nephalin seyenite.
This way I forced it to mature in ^6 and got a very special crystalline
glaze from the two recipes I work with, kind of sparkles around the
"flowers". I stoped using this claybody because eight out of ten pieces
broke. There is a technique, I had learnt from Frith's book of slipcasting
etc, using Styrofoam molds, they allow me make very thin and delicate works.
Again, with "normal claybodies". Half break, and the other half... I fire
not smooth. I got a big grinding stone machine, and it is too massive for
these pieces perhaps I need these dermel tools were talking in clayart, but
I cannot effort now.
From the letters I got, I arrived to the conclusion that I have to
try, starting from 630c up too 850C. today I tried to smooth a piece of 900C
and it was too hard.
Thanks again to every one who gave me his advise. when I will learn more I
will E mail my conclusions.
