this comes from a friend and noted potter.
if any of you have, or know where we can find
this information, please post me, or give to the list.

Dear Mel,
I am trying to find statistics on the number of ceramic BFA and MFA
students coming out of American Universities on an average annual basis. I
wondered if you were party to this sort of information.
I would be very grateful for any pointers you can give me or places
I might look.

Mel,
The College Art Association in NY use to manage that type of Statistic.
If not, maybe the magazine that evaluates colleges every year might have
it. I for get which mag that was Times or Newsweek.
They do a very throrough evaluation for the best schools for the best
areas like MFA in Art.

places I might look......
It might be possible to do a web search on which schools offer
BFA/MFA programs. After that, it would likely be necessary to
contact each school to find the average number of graduates annually.
The last time CERAMICS USA bought a list of schools with ceramics
programs, there were more than a thousand. Finding the actual number
of grads may take some time. Keep in mind that undergrad degrees
(BFA) are not in a specific area such as ceramics, or drawing, etc.
Usually, the BFA is in art, with a "concentration" in a particular
area.
It is possible, I believe, to get or buy a list of schools from
NCECA, but those will only be such schools as have membership in
NCECA. It would certainly be interesting information to have.
Something tells me this is not a lot of help.
