bisqueing in gas

Greetings,

John and Eric and others interested...why do I feel bisqueing in gas was
a big leap for me? All I knew was the use of an electric kiln. My pottery
teacher in college basically instilled it into us, electric for bisque and
gas for high fire. When I first started up on my own, I wanted to get both,
but only had enough money for 1 kiln. I chose the electric.

I've been under the impression all of this time, if you want a better
bisque you should do it in an electric kiln. Easier to control with just
the use of some dials and switches. I realize now, that I've been wrong. I
lit the kiln off at 6:30 am and shut it off by 4:00 pm. All I had to do was
adjust the valve and the damper a little.

I though I would give it shot to see how it would work out, especially
since I outgrew my little electric kiln a couple of years ago. In my last
post, I guessed about 130-150 pots in there, well the electric could only
hold 1/4 - 1/3 of that.
