I'd like to start experimenting with Maiolica. Matthias Ostermann
(wonderful book) describes his basic glaze, seems to have all the
properties I could want and is the perfect temperature for my clay. I'd
like to try it.
Maiolica Glaze #1
Ferro Frit 3124, 60.0
Ferro Frit 2195, 10.0
Ball Clay (Bell Dark), 6.5
Kaolin (EPK), 6.5
Silica, 4.0
Whiting, 2.0
Zircopax, 11.0
I haven't been able to find a supplier for them here.
I checked Tony Hansen's site and found lots of substitutions (listed
below) but haven't yet found any suppliers for these either. Pemco is in
Belgium and Ferro is in Europe but so far no luck
I check with Smart, Steve Mills, Frank Gaydos'site (lists some english
frits) but still no matches.
I also checked every european supplier who had a web page I could find
or who's language I could understand but still nothing.
Does anyone know of a European supplier for the following frits or
substitutions.
Ferro 3195 or:
- Pemco 67
- Fusion F-2
- General Color GF-115
Ferro 3124 or:
- Pemco 311
- Fusion F-19
- General Color GF-113
- Hommel 90
I'd appreciate any input.
Russel
