IM looking for a low-fire clear overglaze that has a shimmer or glitter
effect. Would an opalescent work over a base white? Does anyone know of a
clear glaze that has this effect ? Thank you Jerry

Jerry,
It sounds like you might like the effects of lusters. It does take an
extra firing, but unless you want to use a "cold" spray that has a shimmer,
I think lusters would be the way to go.
There is an opalescent, also one called Mardi Gras. You apply them to a
previously fired glaze, then fire again to between ^018-021, different
lusters require different firing temps. Be sure and follow the directions
- absolutely clean ware, good ventilation for BOTH application AND firing.
If your regular supplier doesn't carry them, the molded ceramic (buy &
glaze) shops always have them.
