sponge on bisque

I have been dipping my bisque in clean water for years. Hold them in the water for about 3 seconds, shake out the interiors. Cone 6 clay. Bisqued to 06.
This helps any dust that may have gotten on the piece to wash off, and I believe helps the glaze apply evenly and also uses a bit less glaze since the pores of the pot have a little moisture in them. The pots are glazed as soon as possible, with the ones being glazed first being wetter. It takes me about 2 hours to do a full glaze load for my electric, and they go right into the kiln and the lid closed. I fire on low for 2 hours, and then turn up to high until they are done. With excellent results.
I am also an incurable dipper as far as glazing goes. Happy glazing.
